Enchanted Artifacts: Cosplay art

Ages: 11+

Students will spend two weeks on each project: a swirling potion bottle, a textured

wand, and a nature-inspired wooden staff. Along the way, they will draw labels, mix

glitter and mica effects, sculpt with hot glue and moldable plastic, paint with dry-brush

techniques, and finish each prop with their own colors and details. The goal is for every

student to leave with three pieces that feel like they came from a fantasy world they

invented.

Note: Please note that this class runs 1 full hour (from 11 am - 12 pm), which means students are likely to run a few minutes late getting to lunch. This is to provide adequate time for both the in-depth art projects & clean-up. Students are permitted to bring snacks for the break before class and bring any food to lunch that didn't quite get finished during lunchtime.

Your Instructor: Rebecca S. de Leon is an artist, professional cosplayer, homeschool parent, and co-op

teacher with a bachelor's degree in Psychology and Fine Arts. She has worked

professionally in cosplay since 2017, partnering with organizations and gaming studios

to bring fantasy into reality. Named Chicago POC Cosplayer of the Year in 2022,

Rebecca enjoys breaking costume and prop techniques into approachable steps while

leaving plenty of room for students to make the work their own.

Cost: $90 + $20 materials fee = $110 total
