Sketch the Stretch (ages 10+)

This course introduces students to drawing the human figure. 

Classes will begin with warm-up activities such as using 1-, 2-, and 5-minute gesture sketches, where students draw one another in dynamic poses. These quick drawings can help students learn how to capture the energy and movement of the whole body with just a few strokes, while honoring the spirit within each person.

Through hands-on practice, students build essential drawing skills such as observation, measuring proportions, composition, and basic structure of a human figure. The class encourages confidence, creativity, and expressive mark-making, along with more focused studies of parts of the body.

By the end of the course, students will feel more confident observing and drawing the human figure and will have a collection of figure drawings that show their progress.
