CREW: KIDS' CRAFT FAIR

You are invited to the HARMONY KID CRAFT FAIR!

Kids can make an inventory of any crafts they would like to try selling. Each child will get a table to set up as their “shop.” The “selling” portion of the fair will last one hour. Kids will take turns running their “shops” and shopping in rotating groups. Parents & invited family members or close family friends are encouraged to attend by private invitation from you to shop from and support our kids, but this event is NOT “open to the public” so please do not post in social media. Masks welcome, as always.

What should kids make & bring to sell? Anything they want, as long as they made it. Crafts can be on a theme (e.g. all jewelry) or an assortment of things. Best-sellers would be items other kids would like to own (like little toys/usable items) OR things that kids could give as gifts to family/friends.

How many items of inventory should kids bring to sell? Up to you. 10 items is a reasonable goal.

Some ideas: ornaments, home/room decorations, jewelry or other wearable accessories, clay bowls/”dishes” or other items with a "function," miscellaneous baubles and trinkets, bookmarks or handmade notebooks, gift tags, sewn or stitched items, little “toys,” paintings & drawings (those these are typically a tough sell… be judicious ), baked goodies (must have list of ingredients available–NO nuts please!), magnets, pens, keychains... the possibilities are endless. It’s reasonable to make wintery items and decorations this time of year, but please try to avoid selling exclusively “holiday” items or items with explicit religious themes so that all attendees can enjoy a wide & welcoming variety of choices. Get ready to go down that Pinterest rabbit hole figuring out what to make!

When: Friday December 5th.

2:00-2:15: Set up (Please bring a card table on which to display your shop. A few are available at the church--please inquire if you need one!)

2:15-3:15: The Fair! Buy & sell your wares

3:15-3:30: Clean-up

PLEASE REGISTER ONLINE BY 11/29!

Where: CCUU Atherton Hall

Why: To give the kids a fun, mini-marketplace experience and let them try their hand at creating products, pricing (cheap cheap cheap! Under a buck is ideal!), selling their wares, handling cash transactions, and making purchasing choices. Let’s try to give them as much autonomy as they can reasonably handle, age-dependent, of course.
