Bring your fort-building supplies (see below) & your imagination. Each participant or group of your choice reserves a "plot of land" in which to create their fort. After some building time, we’ll have open time to PLAY in our fort village: Harmonyville.
A "plot" is a small square area taped onto the floor where you will build your fort. Think of it like your property or yard. Your fort can take up the whole plot, or just a bit. Plot size will be determined by the number of total plots reserved, but figure about 6 ft x 6 ft for now.
To help us prepare for this event, you will be asked to "reserve" plots by filling out a Google Doc here: RESERVE A PLOT.
Families can reserve one plot, each kid can have their own plot, or friends or siblings can team up... it's up to you! (Each child should be responsible for only ONE plot.) If you and a friend want to share a plot and build together, only ONE of you should fill out the Google doc to reserve the plot.
MATERIALS:
Provided: We will be able to use the chairs and folding chairs on hand until they run out. Request some on the Google Doc. First come, first served!
The tall cocktail tables can be draped with a sheet... consider books/weights to expand the floor space. Request one on the Google Doc. First come, first served!
There are a few folding tables accessible for a quick drape-with-a-sheet--please reserve these for our families with little ones for ease. Request one on the Google Doc. First come, first served!
Ideas for building supplies to bring from home: fort-building sets/kits, folding chairs, folding ladders, broomsticks (a few strapped together makes a teepee), cardboard boxes, play tents, toy tunnels, sheets.
Methods to secure forts: clips, clothespins, rubber bands, scarves, string/ribbons
TIP:
When planning, keep in mind that kids will play with forts, crawling in and out of each others' forts... consider stability in your engineering to avoid frustrations! :D
