HCA Musical Theater Workshop (8-13)

Do you love musicals, singing, dancing, and acting? In Musical Theater Workshop you'll learn to choreography, staging, and vocals for a fun, upbeat number from a kid-friendly musical in a low-pressure, supportive environment perfect for beginners to get their feet wet and more experienced performers to stretch and hone their skills.

Your instructor, Betsy Dusenske, has a BFA in Musical Theater Performance, professional stage experience, and 15 years' experience choreographing for kids.

Students should come dressed to move each class and wearing socks, dance shoes, or sneakers. No bare feet, boots, sandals, or crocs.

Our 6 weeks of rehearsal will culminate in a performance at the HCA quarterly showcase where you can show off your new skills in a (free) performance of your number(s) for your family and friends.

The Showcase:

The HCA Showcase for Quarter 1 is at 1:15 p.m. on October 17th in Atherton Hall at CCUU.

For the showcase performance, please be prepared to wear:

• a plain, solid t-shirt in a bright color of your choice (red, blue, yellow, green, pink, orange, purple, aqua, etc.)

• dark pants (jeans, sweats, leggings)

• sneakers or dance shoes (jazz, ballet, lyrical, character shoes)

Classes on 10/17 will follow a shortened schedule to allow for time for the showcase (Each class shortened by 5 minutes).

October 17th Shortened Schedule

Period 1: 10-10:45 am

Period 2: 10:55-11:35 am

Lunch: 11:35-12:25 pm

Period 3: 12:25-1:05 pm

Showcase: 1:15-2:00 pm

NOTE: If you would not regularly be in attendance at 1:15 pm on Friday, October 17th, please plan accordingly. Participation in the showcase is required so that our performers can be appropriately prepared for this performance-focused class. Exceptions can be considered on a case-by-case basis (please contact the instructor.)
